Marjorie Schroeder passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014, in Windom.
Marjorie Ann Funk was born July 12, 1928 at Bluffton, Ohio, the daughter of Arnold and Edna Loganbille. She grew up in a farming family and was used to hard work. They had a family farm North of Newton, Kansas where they farmed for many years, until 1968 when Marion Reservoir flooded the farmland. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948 and received her Practical Nursing degree in 1951.
On July 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roy Donald Schroeder at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kansas. The couple moved to Mountain Lake where they raised their family. They attended Bethel Mennonite Church where Marjorie was a part of the Sewing Society and Hospitality. Marjorie worked as a nurse at Mountain Lake Lake Community Hospital until it closed and then at the Eventide Home.
Marjorie was a kind and giving person who worked tirelessly for her family and others in the community. Marjorie loved her children and loved to sew for them. Even in her older years, when her health was starting to fail her, she delivered Meals on Wheels on foot to the shut-ins. She loved to keep busy.
She is survived by her children, Linda Schroeder of Windom, Leann (Douglas) Yoder of Pryor, Oklahoma, Thomas Schroeder of Windom and John (Karen) Schroeder of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christina (Stephen) Arruda of Pryor, Laura (Christopher) Paul of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Nathan Yoder of Portland, Oregon, Leah (Jon) Arnold of Pryor, Zachary (Rachael) Yoder of Pryor and Lydia Schroeder of Minneapolis; three great-grandchildren, Maria Arruda IV, Georgia Arruda, Isaac Paul (and three on the way) and two sisters, Shirley (Paul) Harms of Newton and Barbara Reimer of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, a great-grandchild, two brothers, Francis Funk and Frederick Funk and a nephew, Benjamin.
