Up for election are mayor, two four-year council terms – and one two-year council spot

Update – Now a candidate for two-year council position

Update: Late this afternoon, Friday, August 1, Darla Kruser filed for the one two-year council position to fill out the unexpired term of Audi Nickel, who resigned due to a move outside of the city limits.

There is now a race for the two four-year Mountain Lake City Council seats up for re-election this November. Today, Friday, August 1, incumbent Brian Schultz and challenger D. David Doge added their names to the ballot. Yesterday afternoon, Thursday, July 31, challenger Dana Kass filed for election.

On the first day of filings this past Tuesday, July 29, current council member, David Savage, filed for the two-year mayoral spot.

Expiring this fall are the terms of Mountain Lake mayor, currently held by Dean Janzen; two four-year council spots held by Brian Schultz and Andrew Ysker – as well as the two-year council opening, left vacant by Nickel.

Filing continues through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12.

Candidates must file in person at Mountain Lake City Hall, located at 930 3rd Avenue or by mail to: Mountain Lake City Clerk, P. O. Box C, Mountain Lake, MN 56159.

The filing fee is $2.

The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
