Grain cars spill corn, no one injured
Nine Union Pacific Railroad grain cars derailed early Wednesday morning, July 30, south of Butterfield.
The 110- car train, which had just left St. James and was heading to Arkansas, derailed at approximately 5:30 a.m., spilling corn and damaging the railroad track. About 500 feet of track will have to be replaced before the line is reopened. No estimated time of reopening has been released.
About two trains per day travel the area of track in which the derailment occurred.
