Second Avenue has had its ups-and-downs

Redux of city street redone in 2012 after utility project

2nd Avenue
SECOND AVENUE IN Mountain Lake has had its ups-and-downs the past two years, but things are changing for the better. Beginning today (Tuesday, July 29), crews began removing the first layer of asphalt that was placed in 2012 after the new water and sewer utility work was completed. This is being done as a redux of the redo in an effort to fix the “roly-poly”-ness of the street, the end result of the work that was done two years ago. Litigation continues as to who is responsible for the situation – Kuechle Underground Inc. of Kimball, the project’s general contractor, or the engineering firm of Bolton and Menk, Inc. of Mankato. Nonetheless, repairs to fix the problem are being undertaken. The same is also currently being done on Prince Street between 11th Street and 13th Street.
