. . . means the roadway is ready by evening
Southern Minnesota Construction (SMC) of Mankato, backed by All-State Asphalt hauling in the hot mix asphalt, brought the scent of asphalt in the morning to some areas of Mountain Lake yesterday (Thursday, July 24) as the process began of placing the second – and final – layer of asphalt on road areas connected with the City of Mountain Lake’s 2012-2014 Utility and Street Project.
However, that hot tar smell on the a.m. breeze did mean that the specific roadways being laid would be completed by the evening.
Following are a few photographs of the paving done on 10th Avenue. The gallery gives city residents an opportunity to thoroughly savor the final weeks of three years of dug up roads for the replacement of gas lines, water mains and sewer mains and the construction of a base for new roads in lieu of those dug up; roads which have been corralled by new curb-and-gutter and topped with a double-layer icing of asphalt.
