Forty-three-year-old male arrested after standoff
According to a press release from the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, and reported by Cottonwood County Emergency Management, officers responded to 218 South Courthouse Avenue in Jeffers at 9:14 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.
The victim, a 63-year-old male, had been stabbed several times. He was taken by Westbrook Ambulance to Windom Area Hospital, and was later flown to a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
The suspect, a 43-year-old male, was taken into custody after a standoff at his residence. According to a second press release, the suspect has been identified as Scott Hanson, age 43, of Jeffers.
The Cottonwood County Attorney’s office is still collecting information, but it is Hanson will be facing Felony Assault charges. It is expected he will appear in court tomorrow morning (Tuesday, July 8).
The victim’s name and condition remain unavailable.
Agencies assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Jeffers First Responders, Westbrook Ambulance, Windom Police Department, Westbrook Police Department, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Minnesota State Highway Patrol and HEAT Team.
