Junior wins North Sub-Section individual championship
Following play at yesterday’s (Tuesday, May 27) Section 2A North Sub-Section Individual Golf Tournament, held at Oakdale Golf Club near Buffalo Lake, Mountain Lake Area’s (MLA) Aaron Walzak has advanced to the Section 2A Tourney. In fact, Walzak, a junior at Mountain Lake Christian (MLC), captured championship honors at the meet with an even-par 72.
The Section 2A Tournament will be held next Monday, June 2, at North Links in Mankato.
In the team tally, the MLA boys were seventh, scoring 412. Winning the sub-section title was the boys team from Bethlehem Academy.
Other MLA boys individual scores were Tyler Dick, 103; Caleb Rempel, 105 and Leighton Schlabach, 132.
Caitlin Oeltjenbruns, the lone MLA girls golfer, scored 119 in the meet, advancing to section by earning an at-large spot.
