Mass of Christian Burial for 95-year-old Lorrell Brovold of Valley City, North Dakota, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday morning, December 4, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley Springs. The church is located at 540 3rd Avenue NE.
Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Valley City.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. The funeral home is located at 515 North Central Avenue. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the funeral mass from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Lorrell Brovold passed away on Wednesday, November 29, at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.
Gladys Lorrell Pritchard, the daughter of James and Irene (Lemna) Pritchard, was born on December 7, 1921 on the family farm near Verona, North Dakota. Lorrell was the second oldest of eight children. She grew up and attended school in the Verona area and graduated from Verona High School in 1939.
On June 20, 1942, she married Warren Brovold in Verona. The couple lived in Verona for a time before moving to Valley City in 1943.
Warren Brovold died on March 24, 1952.
During Lorrell’s lifetime, she was employed hospitals in Harvey, North Dakota and Austin, Minnesota, and then returned to Mercy Hospital in Valley City. She worked for 20 years at the Credit Bureau in Valley City, Motor Vehicle and Valley City State University.
Lorrell lived independently in her home in Valley City for 73 years, until moving to the Sheyenne Care Center in September 2017.
She was extremely proud of her family. She enjoyed baking, gardening, walking with her friend, Agnes, sewing, embroidery and visiting with her friends and family. Lorrell was a caregiver to many people.
Lorrell is survived by her four children, Patricia (John) Weir, Mountain Lake, Minnesota, Bob (Barb) Brovold, Kulm, North Dakota, Gary (Sally) Brovold, Bismarck, North Dakota and Ron (Kris) Brovold, Fargo, North Dakota; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Willis (Mary) Pritchard, Oakes, North Dakota and one sister-in-law, Joanne Pithey, Valley City.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Warren and grandson, Travis Brovold.
