Rich was born on November 17, 1925 in Windom, the son of Reuben McKinley and Amy Elizabeth Muller. He was baptized at the Swedish Lutheran Church in Windom. He attended school through grade eight at Greenhill School District #75 in Dale Township, Cottonwood County and graduated from Windom High School in the Class of 1943. Rich served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1947-1948.

On July 2, 1950, he married Dolores Schmidt, also of Dale Township, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. They lived their entire married life on the same farm in Dale Township.

Rich farmed his entire life and was a Pioneer Seed Dealer for 33 years and sincerely enjoyed each of his customers and considered them friends.

He was very active in his church, serving as elder, usher, trustee, Board of Education, Sonshine Preschool Board, Sunday School Superintendent and youth counselor.

He served his community as a Director of the Delft Co-op Elevator, Dale Township supervisor, Dale Diggers 4-H Club leader and was an active member of the Dale Farmer’s Club.

In 1955, he competed in and won the Minnesota State Plowing contest with his John Deere (JD) Model A tractor and a 3-bottom plow. He went on to take 5th place at the National Plowing Contest in Indiana that same year. The local John Deere dealer allowed him to use a 1-ton flatbed truck to haul his plow to Indiana and arrangements were made for him to use a new JD 60 tractor. He was glad for the extra horsepower as it plowed tough.
.
He had many enjoyments in life including golfing, trap shooting, snowmobiling, keeping his yard up, plowing with the “old” Delft Furrow Makers, helping his sons and grandson restore old tractors and watching Travis in his snowmobile races. He truly enjoyed each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 67 years, Dolores; his children and their spouses, Gail Maras (Russell), Wayne Muller (Monica) and Scott Muller (Lisa) all of Windom; his grandchildren, Andrew Maras (Tiffany Wahl), Sara Maras (Matt Arlandson), Kathryn Underwood (Andrew), Mindy Shupe (Brad), Bridgette Armstrong (Robby), Andrea Muller (Pat Tiede), Jordan Muller, and Travis Muller (Jasmine Erickson); nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn Oberle of Jeffers, Minnesota; his brother, David Muller and sister-in-law, Beatty, of rural Windom; brother-in-law, Paul Schmidt of Fulshear, Texas and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Warren Muller; sister-in-law, Bernice; brother-in-law, Jack Oberle; sister-in-law, Mary Schmidt and nephew, Tim Muller.

He went to heaven doing what he loved – working the land in his John Deere just north of his home.
