THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Christian (MLC) Speech Team competed at an invitational at New Ulm Public High School this past Saturday, March 22. Twenty-one schools participated, with 300+ indivdiual entries. Four members of the team were among those competing. The MLC team placed 13th from among the 21 schools. Junior Elijah Stoesz of Mountain Lake finished third in Informative Speaking. Others earning awards include juniors Josh Raabe of Mountain Lake, earning a “1-Out” Ribbon in Humorous Interpretation (12th place) and James Hamm of St. James awarded at “2-Out” Ribbon in Humorous (14th place). Melissa Lohrenz also competed in Poetry, finishing in 13th place. Elijah Stoesz also competed in Original Oratory, finishing 13th. Team members were making final preparations for Sub-Section competition today (Monday, March 24) at Fairmont Public High School. All team members will be competing. The team is coached by Kim Friesen.
