Arnold ‘Junie’ Carlson

arnold carlsonThere will be a private memorial service for Arnold Belmont “Junie” Carlson, age 75, of Darfur, Minnesota, following visitation.

Visitation will be at the Sturm Funeral Home-St. James Chapel, on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Arnold “Junie” Carlson passed away at his home on Thursday, February 4, 2016.

Arnold Belmont Carlson, known by all as “Junie,” was born on the family farm in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, just outside Darfur, on June 22, 1940. He was the son of Albert Byron Carlson and Edna Lestina (Jensen) Carlson. Junie grew up on the family farm went to Country School District #42 and graduated from Comfrey High School.

Junie truly loved his farm, farming and his dog, Kaz. He enjoyed fishing, boating and the simple life. He also liked to watch the NASCAR races and travel cross-country with family Many trips were made to Texas and Kansas to visit family. Junie also loved visiting Nashville, Tennessee and enjoyed polka music. He was an active member of the Darfur Sportsman Club.

Junie will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Loretta Amsden of Springfield, Minnesota, Violet Anderson of St. James, Minnesota and Eileen (Ray) King of Lawrence, Kansas; sister-in-law, Ilene Carlson of St. James; brother-in-law,Leonard Tietz of Morgan, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Carlson; sister Leona, Tietz; brothers-in-law, Stan Amsden and Verne Anderson and one nephew, Mitchell Carlson.
