Funeral services for 80-year-old Harold Herrig of St. James, Minnesota, formerly of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.
Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located on 10th Street at Midway Road.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, located at 420 10th Street North in Mountain Lake. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Harold Dean Herrig passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015.
He was born on April 18, 1935, the son of Carl and Bena (Kies)Herrig in Storm Lake, Iowa. Harold did construction and masonry work most of his life. In 1966, he started Herrig’s Construction in Mountain Lake. Harold continued working in the construction business until 2000.
On August 10, 1952 Harold married Lucille Feeken. After her death on March 21, 1996, Harold married Janet Loose on February 14, 1997.
He served several positions at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with his famly.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of St. James; his five children, Rick (Janice) Herrig of Mountain Lake, Cindy (Walt) Buller of International Falls, Minnesota, and Bradley (Lois) Herrig, Tim (Renee) Herrig and Alan (Barb) Herrig of Mountain Lake; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his sister, Hazel Marietta of Storm Lake, his brother, Don Herrig, Albert City, Iowa; Janet’s four children, Lisa Tressler of New Ulm, Minnesota, Michelle Waite and fiancée Dave Kozlowski of Greendale, Wisconsin, Matthew Loose of Mankato, Minnesota and Erin Haberman and fiancée Jason Hassebroek of Mountain Lake; 12 step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren and his father- and mother-in-law, Albert and Arlene Dressel of Mankato.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lucille; brothers and sisters Lucille Lorenzen, Irene Moore, Marvel Anderson, Deloris Sennert, Fred Herrig and Russell Herrig and a step-great grandson, Nicholas Waite.
