Butterfield City Clerk Leslie Heffele confirmed this morning (Wednesday, February 19) that, as far as the City of Butterfield’s water leak problem from Tuesday, February 18 is concerned: “The leak is fixed. The water is on. Workers are completing filling in the hole where digging occurred.”
The city was notified yesterday morning by the Red Rock Rural Water System – which supplies water to the city – that water consumption had spiked. usage had dramatically increased in the city. Butterfield Maintenance Manager Brandon Winch said that crews immediately began digging, isolating various parts of town and shutting down valve in an attempt to pinpoint the source of the leak. The leak, which was not apparent above-ground had been putting out 400-to-500 gallons per minute.
