Funeral services for 91-year-old Martha Brandt of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, October 23, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. The church is located at 1418 2nd Avenue.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Windom, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church the day of the funeral service.
Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, is handling the funeral arrangements.
Martha Brandt passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.
Martha Brandt was born on November 29, 1923, in Selma Township, Cottonwood County, the daughter of Gottfried and Eva (Diete) Heffele. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake on February 3, 1924, and confirmed on April 10, 1938. Martha attended School District #61.
She was united in marriage to Edwin ‘Bud’ Brandt on April 28, 1943, at Salem Lutheran Parsonage in Comfrey, Minnesota.
Martha worked at Campbell’s Soup in Worthington, Minnesota; then Finger Hut in Windom, Minnesota for 12 years the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake for 16 years.
The couple moved to the Laker Apartments in Mountain Lake in November 2002, and Martha became a resident of the Good Samaritan Village on May 3, 2011.
Martha was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Lynn) Brandt of Mountain Lake; her daughters, Sandy (Bob) Paulson of Mountain Lake, Sharon (Michael) Raverty of Worthington and Ruth (David) Friesen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and her sister, Eva Goosen of Trimont, Minnesota.
Preceding her in deathwere her parents; husband, Edwin ‘Bud’ in 2004; grandson, James Friesen; brothers, Fredric, Gottfried, Harry and Gustav Heffele; two brothers in infancy and sisters, Katherine Smith, Lydia Hildebrandt, Anna Wilaby, Mary Wolf, Molly Elsing and Esther Bertilson.
