Mountain Lake ECFE kicks off fall season ‘down on the farm’

Mountain Lake ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) kicked off its fall season “down on the farm” – in Mountain Lake City Park – with a Barnyard Blast Party, on Monday, September 21.

The event included games, crafts, a snack – a variety of farm animals and pets to pet – along with a free book – all centered around a “farming” theme.

Barnyard Party was sponsored by the Mountain Lake ECI (Early Childhood Initiative), with co-sponsors, Mountain Lake ECFE and Head Start – in partnership with SWIF (Southwest Initiative Foundation).

Below is a photo gallery from the event:

JEAN HABERMAN (BACK to camera), a member of the Mountain Lake Early Childhood Collaborative, snaps a photo of Joel Saldana with Tipper, a “fainting goat” owned by Amber Hughes, second from left. “Fainting goats” draw attention directly because of their special trait – they faint. When startled, the goats’ muscles freeze, causing them to collapse – stiff as a board. Officially known as Myotonic goats, the fainting is due to a genetic disorder. It doesn’t hurt the goats; it iss completely muscular. It doesn’t affect any other system,
