Household Hazardous Waste collection in Watonwan County

A Watonwan County household hazardous waste collection will be held in St. James at the Watonwan County Shop on 1304 7th Avenue South, east end of the Watonwan County Fairgrounds, on Wednesday, September 30, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The collection line starts at the northwest entrance to the fairgrounds.

No empty paint can collected. No business waste collected – only household hazardous waste.

Accepted will be the following:

* Paint – oil or latex.

* Aerosol cans – with the contents.

* Thinners.

* Strippers.

*Primers.

* Varnishes.

* Preservatives.

* Glues and adhesives.

* Household cleaners.

* Insecticides and pesticides.

* Poisons.

* Car batteries.

* Oil and oil filters ($1 per oil filter charge).

* Fluorescent bulbs (small charge.)

* Mercury and mercury thermometers.

* Tires – big and small (charge of $1 per tire and up, depending on size).

* Televisions, printers, scanners, fax machines, radios, monitors and computers and monitors ($10 each).

* Keyboard, mice and speakers (no charge).

* All other miscellaneous electronics ($5 each).

The following are free of charge at St. James – dishwashers, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, microwaves, water softeners, coffee makers, toasters, toaster ovens, mixers and vacuums.
