Funeral services for Alvin Carl Lang, 94, of St. James, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 18, 2015, in LaSalle Lutheran Church in LaSalle, Minnesota. The church is located at 100 Second Avenue South.
Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in rural St. James, Minnesota, located south of the city on Watonwan County Road #27. Military Honors will be conducted by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard.
Pastor Sarah Taylor will serve as officiant for the services.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home-St. James Chapel, located at 906 10th Avenue South. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Alvin Carl Lang passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015, in St. James.

Alvin Carl Lang was born in Nelson Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota, on December 26, 1920, the son of Walter and Minnie (Lorenz) Lange. Alvin grew up on the family farm and attended District #22 Country School. He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, from 1942-1945.
Alvin then returned to LaSalle and went to work for LaSalle Farmers Grain, for which he worked for 50-plus years, retiring in 1997.
Alvin married Leora Campbell on November 3, 1951, in Madelia, Minnesota.
He was active in the LaSalle Fire Department for many years, taught gun safety for many years, was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and the LaSalle Lutheran Church. Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Alvin is survived by his children, Steven (Laura) Lang of St. James, Debra Melheim of St. James and Brenda Hoffman of St. James; sister, Frances Ronnei of Bloomington, Minnesota; brother, Marvin Lang of Spring Park, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christopher (Terri) Melheim of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, Ryan Melheim of St. James, Lucas Melheim (Nathan Hemmelgarn) of Farmington, Minnesota, Cody Hoffman (fiancé Megan Davis) of St. James, Caleb Hoffman of LaSalle, Rachel Lang of St. James and McKenzie Lang of St. James, great-grandson, Derek Melheim of St. James; step-great-grandson, Mason Buller of International Falls, Minnesota; step-great-granddaughter, Maddie Buller of International Falls and great-great-grandson, Jonathan Fischer of Jackson, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leora; son, Randy; parents, Walter and Minnie Lange and in-laws, Claude and Effie Campbell.
