MLHS Speech Team competes in JWP Meet

The Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) Speech Team was in competition this past Saturday, March 21, in a meet at Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton Public High School (JWP). There were 15 schools, with approximately 200 orators participating in the contest.

Eighth-grader Kayla Vonk competed in Informative Speaking and advanced to the Varsity finals – where she received a sixth-place ribbon.

Also competing were junior Ashley Watkins in Creative Expression, freshman David Hall in Poetry and eighth-grader Amy Bartsch in Humorous Interpretation.

The four will be competing in a meet a New Ulm Public High School this Saturday, March 28. The Sub-Section Speech Meet will be next Monday, March 30, at Fairmont Public High School.

The team’s coach is Alisa Nickel.
