Wolverine girls top Legacy Christian in first game of tourney

Drop the Lions by 35 points

 

 

In Thursday, December 28 Mountain Lake Area Holiday Basketball Tourney play, the girls took to the court at Mountain Lake Public High School in a pair of games.

The Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine girls posted a 35-point win over Legacy Christian Academy of Andover with a 56 to 31 victory. The girls had worked to a 29 to 14 halftime lead.

Sophomore Margo Stoesz scored 21 points to lead MLA. Junior Taylor Naas also hit for double figures, tallying 11.

The Wolverines recorded 22 steals in the contest, seven of those nabs from Margo Stoesz.

The Lions’ Jadyn Nelson had 11 points.

Today (Friday, December 29), MLA faces Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (CM/C) at 6 p.m.

In the other girls game, CM/C cruised by Westbrook-Walnut Grove (W-WG) 70 to 46. The Chargers held a 39 to 24 cushion at the half.

Taylor Rose of CM-C recorded a game-high 33 points. Erica Bock chipped in 12 for the Cougars.

W-WG scoring was led by Grace Woelber’s 21 points. The Chargers’ Brittany Erickson chipped in 11.

Camryn Bunting led W-WG with 13 rebounds, three steals and three assists.

While CM-C plays MLA today, W-WG will take on on Legacy Christian.
