Wolverine boys topped by CM/C in MLA Holiday Tourney game

Cougars use 11-0 second half spurt to take eight-point win

Frigid temps outside; frigid second half shooting inside for the Wolverine boys basketball squad.

After taking a four-point 37 to 33 lead into the locker room at the half, Mountain Lake Area (MLA) shooters came out cold in the second – while guest Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (CM/C) went on an 11-0 scoring spurt. The Maroon-and-Silver could not recover from that deficit, dropping their Friday, December 29 2017 MLA Holiday Basketball Tournament game by eight, 69 to 75.

Despite the loss, the Wolverines recorded four scorers in double digits. Marcus Boyd led the quartet with 21 points, Weston Osland tallied 16, Regan Syverson netted 12 and Abraham Stoesz had 11.

MLA lost 6’2″ junior forward David Larson during the first half due to a left ankle injury.

The Wolverines return to Red Rock Conference place on Thursday, January 5, when they travel to Westbrook to face the Westbrook-Walnut Grove (W-WG) Chargers.

  • From CM-C – Dylan Hillesheim (6’2″ senior forward) and Lewis Pendleton (6’4″ junior guard).
