Fifty point win over HL-O by MLA girls

Stoesz, Tollefson, Naas hit double figures; team shoots 60% from the floor

 

IT WAS A successful trip to Okabena to face the Heron-Lake-Okabena girls basketball team for the Mountain Lake Areae (MLA) Wolverines on Thursday, December 14. The girls won the Red Rock Conference game by 50 points, 74 to 24, with three players – Marta Stoesz, Rylie Tollefson and Taylor Naas – hitting for double-digits. As a squad, the Wolverines shot 60: from the floor. Abi Fest led HL-O with eight points. At the half, MLA held a commanding 44-15 cushion, going on to score 30 in the second half – with the defense limiting their hosts to just nine. The girls next play on Tuesday, December 19, at Minnesota Valley Lutheran in New Ulm. The B-squad game starts at 4:45 p.m., with the varsity tip-off at 6 p.m. They are then off until their first game in the Mountain Lake Holiday Tournament on Thursday, December 28 against Legacy Christian Academy That game begins at 6 p.m. On Friday, December 29, the tourney continues, with MLA playing Cedar Mountain/Comfrey, also at 6 p.m.
