David Holmgren passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, surrounded by his family.
David Allen Holmgren was born on August 1, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and graduated in 1963 from Edison High School. David then entered the United State Marine Corps and served proudly in Vietnam. Upon his return, he completed his degree at Mankato State College (today, Minnesota State University-Mankato) in Mankato, Minnesota. His children would also later earn their degrees from the institution.
In 1972, he married Barbara Holmgren, and together they had three children, Kristi, Brian and Amanda. David retired as the controller for Butterfield Foods Company of Butterfield, Minnesota, where he referred to himself as the “Chief Chicken Plucker”.

He could often be found travelling with his wife to cheer on his grandchildren at sporting events or following his St. James Saints Wrestling team. He will be greatly missed.
