Wolverines’ Levi Stoesz signs Letter of Intent to play Men’s Basketball at Northwestern
Levi Stoesz, Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) High School senior – and former guard on the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Boy’s Basketball team – signed a Letter of Intent to play men’s basketball for the Red Raiders of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa during ceremonies Friday, April 31, at MLC.
Backed by his parents, Burton and Karin Stoesz, Head Boys Basketball Coach Shawn Naas, his brother, Abe, and a bevy of his Wolverine Boys Basketball team members and MLC staff and students, Levi placed his name in ink on the line.
Levi finishes his high school career with Mountain Lake Area after compiling these impressive All-Time Wolverine Boys Basketball History (1987-Present) stats:
- 2nd in Career Points Per Game with 17.7.
- 5th in Career Free Throw Percentage; 363 out of 493.
- 5th in Career Three-Point Field Goals with 92.
- 6th in Career Points with 1,329.
- 7th in Career Steals with 142.
- 13th in Career Assists with 203.
- 15th in Career Rebounds with 351.
- “Captain” for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
- Red Rock All-Conference in 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
- Wolverine “MVP” in 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
- Wolverine “Mr. Basketball’ for 2016-2017.
- KNUJ “Player of the Week” during 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
The Red-and-White Red Raiders are led by Head Coach Kris Korver, a 1992 Northwestern grad who just completed his 17th year at the helm. Assistant Coaches include Mike Vorwald and Rick Clark, with Ben Miller, Junior Varsity Assistant Coach. Northwestern is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Great Plains Conference (GPAC). The remaining 10 GPAC schools include Briar Cliff University of Sioux City, Iowa; Nebraska Wesleyan University of Lincoln, Nebraska; Dakota Wesleyan University of Mitchell, South Dakota; Midland University of Fremont, Nebraska; Hastings College of Hastings, Nebraska; Concordia University of Seward, Nebraska; Dordt College of Sioux Center, Iowa; Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa; Doane University of Crete, Nebraska and Mount Marty College of Yankton, South Dakota.
The Red Raiders play their home ball games in Bultman Athletic Center, which seats 2,200. The college, founded in 1882, sports an enrollment of 1,210. Its president is Greg Christy.
The 5′ 11¾” Stoesz will be an ag business major.
