Munson Field hosts Red Rock Conference track-and-field meet

MLA girls finish 3rd, boys end in 4th

 

 

TTHE MOUNTA Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squads The Wolverines now stand 13-6 overall, 11-2 in the Red Rock. The club will now face Fulda on the Raiders' home court on Tuesday, February 9. Due to last week's blizzard, the already-rescheduled game due to weather with Edgerton Public will be at home on Thursday, February 11. The following day, Friday, February 12, MLA will host Murray County Central. Their regular season comes to a close against Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial (at Lake Crystal) on Tuesday, February 16.

 

 

 

Munson Field was host to the Red Rock Conference track-and-field meet held Thursday afternoon, May 19.

As a team, the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine Girls earned a 3rd-place spot with 94 points. Claiming the team championship was Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton with 191 ponts.

The MLA boys finished in 4th, scoring 91. Murray County Central nabbed the boys title scoring 207 team points.

Jenneel Rodney was the only girl to compete to a 1st-place mark, taking the shot put at 33′ 0.” She also ran to 4th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.72.

Three Wolverine girls paced the 100-meter hurdles. Carly Paulson was second at 17.49, Bailey Swanson ended in third with 17.88 and Emily Jahnke crossed in 5th at 18.16. Swanson ranked in another event, ended third in the 300-meter hurdles with 51.73. Paulson took to the field events to take 4th in the triple jump at 31′ 3/4.” Jahnke, too, paced in another event, stretching the tape to 14′ 8 1/4″ in the long jump. A toss of 79′ 10″ moved Alexis Jellema-Baerg in 4th in the discuss. Marta Stoesz cleared the bar at 4′ 10″ to claim 4th in the high jump. Sierra Pankratz was the final Wolverine girl to place, ended in 5th in the triple jump with 29′ 6 1/2.’

Reynaldo Capetillo had a very good track-and-field day, leading the MLA boys. Capetillo claimed four 1st-place finishes – in the 200-meter at 23.39, in the 400-meter with 51.82, in the long jump with a jump of 19′ 1 1/2″ and was the anchor for the winning 4 x 200-meter relay  (Sam Paulson, Tony Orea-Morales, Levi Stoesz and Capetillo) with a time of 1:41.25.

Slade Harder crossed the tape first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:22.11, and also ran the opening leg of the winning 4 x 800-meter relay (Harder, Tommy Kraemer, Emilio Garcie DeLa Cruz and Ryan McCue)  that ended with 8:57.35. Hunter Dahna was second in the shot put, heaving the weighted ball 41′ 10.”

Next up for the MLA Wolverine Track-and-Field team is the Section 3A South in Luverne on Thursday, May 26.
