Sarah Regehr passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.

Sarah Regehr was born December 3, 1917, at Henderson, Nebraska the daughter of Peter and Maria (Buller) Krause. When she was four-years-old, the family moved to Radison, Wisconsin before moving to Mountain Lake. The family lived on several different farms between Mountain Lake, Jeffers, Minnesota and Delft,  Minnesota. Sarah attended several country schools and graduated the eighth grade in 1932. In 1934, she was baptized at the Gospel Mennonite Church (today, Lakeview Gospel Church) in Mountain Lake.

Sarah helped with family chores at home until she was 18. She then went to work for another farm family, taking care of two small children and helping around the farm. During the winter months, she helped in town with small children and house chores.

On June 22, 1938, she married Londo Regehr and they made their home on a small farm north of Mountain Lake for a couple years, and then moved to a larger farm where they farmed for the next 10 years. In 1950, with five children, Londo and Sarah purchased their own farm southwest of Butterfield, Minnesota, where they lived until retirement in 1976.

They didn’t take frequent vacations so the trips to Minnesota’s North Shore, Montana and Niagara Falls were memorable ones. Sarah enjoyed family gatherings. She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening. She was an active volunteer at church and the Mountain Lake Christian School, where she was involved in several groups. She also enjoyed working at the Care & Share in Mountain Lake, where she clerked and did clothes mending. She also was active in the Senior Citizen Center in Mountain Lake. She loved spending time with family and friends.

She spent the last five years of her life enjoying the wonderful care, activities and love shown her at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.

Sarah is survived by her children, Mary Franz of Windom, Minnesota, Ruby (Harvey) Ahrens of Maple Grove, Minnesota, John (Sharlla) Regehr of Stewartville, Minnesota, Marvin (Deloris) Regehr of Mountain Lake, Elsie Richardson of Alexandria, Minnesota, Donald (Christine) Regehr of Rochester, Minnesota and Ernest (Laurie) Regehr of Swea City, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Callender of Billings, Montana and Tina Duerksen of Mountain Lake; sister-in-law, Wilma Krause of Mankato, Minnesota and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
