Wilma A. Lindstrom passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Windom Area Hospital following a severe stroke. She passed away on the same date as her husband, Carl, did 29 years ago.

Wilma Arlyne (Sawatzky) Lindstrom was born on September 30, 1923 in Mountain Lake, the daughter of John and Nettie Sawatzky. She was the oldest of five siblings, and provided a secure anchor for her brothers and sister when it was needed. She graduated second in her class from Mountain Lake High School in 1941.

Wilma married Carl Lindstrom on August 20, 1946. They enjoyed golfing, dancing and traveling the United States with the Jaycees. She worked at the Mountain Lake Creamery until their children, Carlene and Bruce, were born.

While raising her children, she volunteered with the American Red Cross, and was very active in her church. She instilled in her family a strong appreciation for the beautiful things of the earth, especially for birds and flowers. Her family will remember her as an independent, dignified woman, who was very generous with her time and kindness to her friends and family. They will cherish the joy she found in spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandson, watching birds, following sports, reading and her German heritage.

She is survived by her daughter, Carlene Schons and her husband, John, of Fairmont, Minnesota; her son, Bruce Lindstrom and his wife, Sylvia, of Seattle, Washington; her two granddaughters, Megan (Mike) Heller of Sherburn, Minnesota and Chelsea (Jack) Schutter of Lincoln, Nebraska; one great-grandson, Leo Heller of Sherburn; her sister, Norma Hyma of Palm Desert, California; her brothers, Bob Sawatzky (Marilyn) of Park Rapids, Minnesota and Jack Sawatzky of Two Inlets, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. Also left to remember her are many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nettie; her husband; Carl, one brother, Harold Sawatzky; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
