Funeral services for 79-year-old Sally Joan Jass of Mountan Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday morning, February 12, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township, Jackson County. The church is located at 88945 600th Avenue in rural Alpha, Minnesota.
Interment will be in the church cemetery, located next to the church.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake Chapel, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 420 10th Street North in Mountain Lake. A second visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church the day of the funeral service.
Sally Joan Jass passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield, Minnesota, after a battle with cancer.
Sally Joan Schultz, the daughter of Lyal and Ida (Hulin) Schultz was born on September 14, 1936, on the home farm in Enterprise Township, Jackson County. She grew up and attended country school and graduated from Jackson High School in 1954. After graduating, she attended school in Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked at an insurance company until her marriage.
Sally was united in marriage to Robert Carl Jass on August 1, 1971 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in the Mountain Lake area. She worked several years in housekeeping at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village.
She was in a softball league, bowling league and enjoyed baking, canning, cooking, shopping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her “Famous Dill Pickles,” enjoyed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Mountain Lake; step-son, Eric (Shelly) Jass of Concrete, Washington; daughter, Stefanie (Scott) Sorenson of Brewster, Minnesota and son, Robert, Jr. of Mountain Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Myrna Schultz and brother, Roger Schultz and his wife, Jean.
