Brett Willaby competes in state individual wrestling tourney February 27, 2016 Share / Print / Email -FacebookTwitterGooglePinterestPrintEmailEighth-grader finishes in 6th; ‘Welcome Home’ is tomorrow afternoon IN HIS OPENING match in the 106 weight class at the Minnesota State Class “A” Individual Wrestling Tournament, held Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Windom/Mountain Lake’s Jared Willaby lost by fall in 24 seconds to the #1-ranked wrestler, Jeron Matson of Kenyon-Wanamingo. Matson went on to to win his second round match, which made the eighth-grader eligible to wrestle in the Friday evening consolation bracket. Unfortunately, Willaby lost a 4-2 decision to Cannon Swanson of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. He finished in 6th-place. Matson went on to eventually claim the 106 championship.
