Santa visits Butterfield, shares rides with folks in a fire truck
Butterfield is beginning to look a lot like Christmas – especially at the corner of Main Street by Butterfield Foods following the fourth-annual Community Tree Lighting held late this afternoon (Saturday, November 28). Santa Claus did the lighting honors. This event is sponsored by the Butterfield Summer Sizzler.
A free will soup and sandwich supper, served up by the Butterfield Fire Department, followed the tree lighting in the Butterfield Fire Hall. At 7 p.m., a community drawing was held (winners had to be present to win). All funds will go to the Butterfield Fire Department.
In addition, fire truck rides around Butterfield – with Santa Claus riding in the passenger seat – were provided to kids of all ages by the Butterfield firefighters.

THEY CAME ALL the way from Omaha, Nebraska for the opportunity to visit with Santa. From left, Rayne Williams, Ol’ St. Nick and Vincent Williams. They are the daughter and son of Mattt and Moriah Williams – and the great-grandchildren of Ken and Marlene Pankratz of Butterfield.
AND THEN SANTA was off to his spot in the Butterfield Fire Department’s fire truck, ready to share rides with kids of all ages.
THERE WAS SANTA, riding shotgun during a fire truck ride around Butterfield.
MEANWHILE, THE FRIENDLY firefighter chauffeur was Phil Buhler, who has served 25 years with the department.
