Special crazy prices, fun activities all day
The Mountain Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has organized a Crazy Throwback Thursday for this Thursday, July 23. Participating businesses will have “Throw Back” prices – along with crazy costumes from their favorite retro decade.
Businesses sponsoring this 2015 Crazy Throwback Thursday include 10th Street Pickers, Care & Share/10,000 Villages, Country Pride True Value, Custom Motors, Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake, Jubilee Fruits & Vegetables, KDOM, Maynard’s Food Center, Mountain Lake Family Fitness, Mountain Lake Floral, Observer/Advocate, Our Hometown Cafe, Peterson Drugs & Gifts, Salon 310, The Matchless Gift and United Prairie Bank.
Each participating business will have an area in which customers can vote on their favorite worker’s crazy retro costume. The employee with the most votes will win $50 in Chamber Bucks. In addition, each voter’s name will be placed in a box with one name drawn to also win $50 in Chamber Bucks.
A Medallion Hunt will be a part of the craziness as well – with over $90 in prizes to the winners. The prizes include $50 Gift Card from Maynard’s Food Center, $25 Gift Card from Peterson Drugs & Gifts and a Free Hair Cut from Salon 310. Clues will be given at each participating business – beginning at 9 a.m. – and again at the top of each hour – until there is a winner.
Business attractions will include –
* Sweetfields’ crazy special deal on ice cream cones all day.
* “Guess the Plant” contest all lday at Custom Motors for the chance to win Chamber Bucks.
* Free popcorn all day at Country Pride True Value.
* Free iced mint tea and lemon balm cookies all day at Jubilee Fruits and Vegetables.
* Drawing at Mountain Lake Family Fitness for three Casey’s gift cards. They will also be serving water and bars from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
* 10th Street Pickers and Mountain Lake Floral will serve coffee and mini-muffins at 9 a.m.
* Maynard’s Food Center selling a hot dog/chips/soda meal deal and Peterson Drug & Gifts offering root bear floats for a dessert special price from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot shared by the two businesses.
* Our Hometown Cafe will have a noon lunch deal of walking tacos and a beverage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – and an afternoon lunch of watermelon and crullers from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
* Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake will hold a “Guess the Number of Skittles” contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Maynard’s/Peterson parking lot. Winner receives free Skittles – plus a free entry into the Good Sam Color Jam (and a small gift for the kids).
* Farmer’s Market will be in Mountain Lake City Park.
