Funeral services for Georgia Ann (Rud) Eng of St. James, Minnesota, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in St. James, located at 716 6th Avenue South.
Reverend K. Christian Johnson will officiate at the services.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home-St. James Chapel, located at 906 10th Avenue South. A second visitation will be at the church the day of the funeral service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Georgia Eng passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospital Foundation, 840 Foundation, Opera House or charity of one’s choice.
Georgia Ann Rud was born on February 11, 1928, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Stella (Snortum) Rud. Georgia grew up in Jordan, Minnesota. She was confirmed at the Methodist Church on May 1, 1941. She graduated from Jordan Public High School in 1945 and received her education degree from Hamline University in St. Paul 1949. She then moved to St. James where she taught shorthand and typing.
Georgia married Leland Eng on August 16, 1953 in Jordan. The couple made their home in rural St. James where Georgia continued to teach. (She was the first teacher in St. James to continue teaching after being married) She taught full time in St. James for five years, and then did substitute teaching in St. James, Butterfield, Minnesota and Comfrey, Minnesota for many years as she raised their family.
Georgia was a member of the Eastern Star, Sertoma Club, Opera House Restoration Committee, Friends of the Library, Hospital Auxiliary, Couples Card Club, First Lutheran Church, Ladies Circle and Befrienders. She enjoyed many years of plays with Lee at Okoboji Summer Theater in Okoboji, Iowa. Georgia was presented the Service To Mankind Award for 1985-1986 and loved to correspond with family and friends by sending letters and cards regularly.
Georgia is survived by her children, Thomas (Martha) Eng of St. James, Nancy (Derek) Wichmann of New Ulm, Minnesota, David (Anne) Eng of Louisville, Colorado and Sue (Al) Wieland of Madelia, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Eric (Jolleen) Eng of St. James, Becky (Aaron) Morrison of Glendale, Arizona, Brian Eng and Kristen Doucette of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Holly (Aaron) Lenes of Fosston, Minnesota, Zachary Wichmann of Mankato, Minnesota, Breanna Wichmann of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Adam (Heidi) Eng of Denver, Colorado, Matthew Eng of Honolulu, Hawaii, Daniel Eng of Louisville, Colorado and Amanda Eng and J.J. Giles of Louisville, Colorado and five great-grandchildren, Eli Morrison, Jayce Morrison, Clayton Lenes, Stella Lenes, and Amelia Lenes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; parents, George and Stella Rud; infant son, James and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ardy and Herb Saunders.
