Walzak is North Sub-Section 2A Golf Meet boys champion

Play held at Buffalo Lake during Tuesday’s rain; team finishes eighth

RECENT MOUNTAIN LAKE Christian (MLC) grad Aaron Walzak will head to the Section 2A Golf Meet after securing a berth by topping the field at the North Sub-Section 2A Meet, held in the rain on Tuesday, May 26, at Buffalo Lake’s Oakdale Golf Club. Walzak claimed the gold medal in the boys’ sub-section with a score of 78 – winning the title by four strokes. As a team, the Wolverines were eighth with a score of 427. Minnesota Valley Lutheran of New Ulm nabbed the team title with 357, while Sleepy Eye Public was second, scoring 362. Caleb Rempel, a 2015 graduate of Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) narrowly missed the cut to move on to section with his score of 98. (The final boys qualifier for section shot a 97). Other Wolverine team members and their scores included Dima Hanson with a 121 and Ryan Pedersen, 130. The Section 2A meet will be played on Monday, June 1, at North Links Golf Course in Mankato.
