Section cross country meet is Thursday – Update

Varsity MLA Wolverine harriers set to run

* According to Wolverine Head Coach Mike Nelson, “Madison’s local radio station Q92.1 will be covering the cross country meet. If you have friends and family that cannot make it, they can log on to www.klqpfm.com in order to listen to the stream online. Paul Raymo will be calling the races.

The 2014 Section 3A Cross Country Meet will be held this Thursday, October 23, at the Madison Country Club in Madison, with the varsity boys and girls Mountain Lake Are (MLA) Wolverines set to run.

The gun for the boys 5,000 meter race will go off at 4 p.m., with the girls taking to their 4,000 meter course at 4:45 p.m.

The awards presentation will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. and led by Carrie Tollefson and Nikki (Swenson) Paradis.

The top two teams and top eight individual finishers go on to compete at the state level. If five or more members from the same team qualify for state as individuals, they will compete as individuals.

Trophies and medals will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams. Medals will also be presented to those individual runners from first-to-eighth-place who are not members of the winning teams, but who still advance to the state meet.

The state meet will be held Saturday, November  1, at St.Olaf College in Northfield.

The MLA head coach is Mike Nelson, assisted by Matt Anderson, along with volunteer coach, Kyle Blomgren.
