Mountain Lake Fire Department responds to Friday combine fire October 17, 2014 Share / Print / Email -FacebookTwitterGooglePinterestPrintEmailTHE MOUNTAIN LAKE Fire Department responded to a combine fire at the Alfred and Cindy Johnson farm north of Mountain Lake on Cottonwood County Road #3, just west of Cottonwood County Road #29, late Friday afternoon, October 17. The International 1680 combine was being used to harvest corn when it became engulfed in fire. Coming to aid was Scott Nesmoe, who was chisel-plowing across the road, to the south of County #3 in a soybean field being combined by Stan Lohrenz. Nesmoe took the tractor and chisel plow to the Johnson farm and dug up an area around the combine as a break in order to stop the flames from reaching the standing cornfield or harvested cornstalks. No one was injured. Above, the firefighters put out the remaining flames. Facebook Comments Share / Print / Email -FacebookTwitterGooglePinterestPrintEmail
