Anna Johanek passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014, in Mountain Lake.

Anna Irene (Zahorsky) Johanek was born on September 12, 1918 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the daughter of Michael and Antonia (Soukup) Zahorshy. She never missed a day of school throughout her years of attendance. She grew up on the family farm helping with chores, herding cattle and taking care of her younger sisters. It was never dull with six sisters who unfortunately lost their mother at the young age of 43.

Anna met and began dating Stanley William Johanek. They married on February 22, 1938. They farmed north of Jackson until 1947, when they purchased a farm south of Mountain Lake. They made a great farm team, also raising many cattle, cage chickens, ducks and geese.

Together they enjoyed playing cards, traveling on plane and bus trips, and entertaining at their cabin on Fish Lake in rural Windom. Anna enjoyed belonging to the Red Hatters, was an awesome seamstress, baker, cook and gardener with a real green thumb; her garden and flowers were her passion. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church.
