Lori, Jorge Puente set to open new cafe in former BB’s Diner building

With the blessing and support of the Mountain Lake Economic Development Authority (EDA) on Friday, September 12, Jorge and Lori Puente of Mountain Lake have purchased the former BB’s Diner building are set to open their new cafe in that location along 3rd Avenue. The targeted opening is between October 1 and October 15.

The Puentes are already off-and-running, with the Minnesota Department of Health, insurance coverage and vendors already in place.

According to Lori, “‘Our’ Home Town Cafe is the name; with a major emphasis on ‘Our’ as we hope to work with local farmers for produce and eggs, as well as the local market for meat cuts and specialty sausage. In addition, the interior decor and more will feature the work of local artists.

As well as offering to consumers foodstuffs, goods and services from the local area, the cafe’s name has added meaning as Lori, who moved to Mountain Lake with husband Jorge earlier this year – is a graduate of Mountain Lake Public High School and the daughter of longtime residents, Dick and Irma Lohrenz.
