. . . Two new teachers, curriculum expansion, current teachers assuming new/additional responsibilities
The first school day of the 2014-2015 school year for preschool to 12th-grade students at Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) will be on Monday, August 25.
Two new teachers are welcomed to the staff – Gail Pearson, who will be teaching math and logic in the secondary and Miriam Rojas, who will be teaching Spanish to students in grades 3-12.
In addition, as MLC works on expanding its curriculum, some of the MLC teachers will assume new or additional teaching responsibilities. A few of these changes include: Kim Friesen (speech coach and secondary English teacher), who has accepted the responsibility of K-12 lead teacher; JoyLynn Bargen (secondary mathematics teacher), who will additionally teach grades 7-10 science; Mandy Linscheid (preschool/kindergarten teacher), who will also serve as a resource teacher helping students as necesssary and Leechelle Quiring (preschool paraprofessional and librarian), who will add kindergarten teaching assistant to her schedule.
As students return to the school building for the first day, they will also note some changes in the building. During the summer, a new floor was installed in the gymnasium, a stainless-steel serving counter was added to the kitchen, fresh paint has been applied throughout the building and the new music room on the north end of the building will be close to completion.
To date, Dr. Bob Windel, school administrator, notes that MLC enrollment is at 81 for preK-12, up 68 from this time last year.
