City of Mountain Lake ballot is set for November election

Will be races for mayor, the two four-year council terms – and the one two-year council spot

The ballot is now set for City of Mountain Lake government races up for election this November – and there will be races in all of them. Up for election are the two-year term for mayor, the pair of four-year city council posts – and the unexpired two-year council position left open with the resignation of Audi Nickel due to a move outside of the city limits.

Expiring this fall are the terms of Mountain Lake mayor, currently held by Dean Janzen; two four-year council spots held by Brian Schultz and Andrew Ysker – as well as the two-year council opening, left vacant by Nickel.

On the mayoral ballot will be David Savage, current council member, who filed the first day of filing, and three challengers, Tim Janzen (who filed yesterday -Monday, August 11), Mike Nelson (who filed today – Tuesday morning, August 12) and John Oeltjenbruns (who also filed today – Tuesday afternoon, August 12). Current Mountain Lake Mayor Dean Janzen has elected not to file for another term. He has held the term since taking the place of former mayor, Howard Bouchie, following his 2002 resignation.

The names on the ballot for the pair of four-year council posts are incumbents Brian Schultz and Andy Ysker (who filed this morning – Tuesday, August 12), along with Dana Kass and D. David Dodge, who had filed last week – and Christopher Boldt, who filed this afternoon (Tuesday, August 12).

The two contenders on the ballot to fill the one two-year council position will be Darla Kruser and Dean Sawatwzky, who also filed last week.

Filings closed at 5 p.m. today (Tuesday, August 12).

The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
