Miss and Little Miss Mountain Lake crowns to be awarded Friday

Candidates for both positions of royalty will be going ‘Back to the Beach’

Miss – and Little Miss – Mountain Lake candidates will be taking themselves, along with their audience, “Back to the Beach” during the pageant to crown the 2014 royal court. The pageant will be held this Friday evening, June 13, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Mountain Lake Public High School auditorium.

Nine candidates will be vying to wear the crown of 2014 Miss Mountain Lake, with a matching number participating in the Little Miss portion of the pageant.

Miss Mountain Lake candidates are, in alphabetical order, Melanie Adrian, Bailey Freitag, Lydia Hildebrandt, Olivia Hopwood, Caitlin Oeltjenbruns, Madelyn Regier, Brianna Soutthivong, Kaylee Wolle and Jenny Wright.

The nine Little Miss candidates include, also in alphabetical order, Kaila Blom, Annika Brinkman, Makiya Hartwig, Storie Hoody, Mareena Jepsen, MaKayden Khounsanthone, Raelyn Marcy, Jadrah Renquist and Adaliyah Srixomphou.

Matt and Emily Anderson will serve as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $4 for students and preschool age is free.

Judging for Miss Mountain Lake is done through personal interview, sportswear dance, talent and poise and appearance. Coordinating the Miss Mountain Lake portion of the pageant are Sonja Stoesz and Alisa Nickel.

The Little Miss is determining by drawing of the winning name. Jami Peters and Sarah Mendoza handle the duties coordinating the Little Miss contestants.

MELANIE ADRIAN

Age: 17.

Parents and Siblings: Jonathan and Brenda Adrian, with siblings, Scott, Rachelle and Bryce.

In-School Activities: Choir, drama, FFA, volleyball, basketball and softball.

Out-Of-School Activities: 4-H, church youth group and summer league sports.

Employment: Adrian Turkey Farms.

Hobbies: Horseback riding, playing piano, showing sheep, swimming and hanging with friends and family.

Talent: Piano solo, “Intermezzo with The Firefly.”

BAILEY FREITAG
BAILEY FREITAG

Age: 17.

Parents and Siblings: Brad and Tami Freitag, with siblings, Lacey and Jake.

School: Mountain Lake Public.

In-School Activities: Choir and volleyball.

Out-Of-School Activities: Kids Fest volunteer and work in the Pow Wow Popcorn Stand.

Employment: Cleaning staff at PJ’s II in Bingham Lake and will soon be a part of Peterson Thrifty White Drug and Gifts cleaning staff.

Hobbies: Singing and dancing.

Talent: Vocal solo, “Put Your Records On,” by Corinne Bailey Rae.

Favorite Pow Wow Memory(ies): When there was a dance-off at the 2012 Pow Wow and my friend, Kaylee and her friend, Jonathan, had a dance-off.

LYDIA HILDEBRANDT

Age: 17.

Parents and Siblings: Gary and Karen Hildebrandt, with siblings, Heidi, Hannah and Isaac.

School: Mountain Lake Public.

In-School Activities: Track-and-field, basketball, cross country, choir and FFA.

Out-Of-School Activities: Church youth group.

Employment: Mountain Lake Public School’s indoor swimming pool.

Hobbies: Eating, sleeping, laughing, chilling with friends and family.

Talent: Vocal solo, “Mama Mia.”

Favorite Pow Wow Memory(ies): Watching the Grande Parade and dancing to Su-Fu-Du with the Hildebrandt cousins when we were all kids.

OLIVIA HOPWOOD

Age: 17.

Parents and Siblings: Brian and Margaret Hopwood, with siblings, Austin, Trey and McKenzie.

School: Mountain Lake Public.

In-School Activities: Volleyball, softball, choir, FFA, drama and National Honor Society.

Out-Of-School Activities: Showing animals at the county and state fairs, summer league volleyball and softball, assisting with Family Night activities at my church.

Employment: Filtration at Schwartz Farms and lawn mowing and Bargen, Inc.

Hobbies: Fishing, sports and FFA activities.

Talent: Serious Interpretation presentation of “Look Up,” written by Gary Turk.

JENNY WRIGHT

Age: 16.

Parents and Siblings: Eric and Barrie Wright, with siblings, Jeff, Jordan and Jason.

School: Mountain Lake Public.

In-School Activities: Volleyball, statistician for Cobra wrestling and Wolverine track-and-field, National Honor Society, Student Council, band, choir, choir president and drama – spring or fall theater productions.

Out-Of-School Activities: Babysitting occasionally, help teach Sunday School at church, am a s server during mass.

Employment: Part-time employee  at Country Pride Services Cooperative True Value Hardware and housekeeping for several families.

Hobbies: Playing my drums, hanging out and relaxing with friends and family, shopping and exploring information on nutrition and fashion.
