Longtime Cottonwood County Commissioner John Oeltjenbruns to step down
Filings closed last Tuesday, June 3, for the position of Cottonwood County Fifth District Commissioner. Current longtime commissioner, John Oeltjenbruns, has elected not to run again, stepping down after serving as commissioner since 1993.
There will be a two-man race to replace Oeltjenbruns, with both Randy Sawatzky and Tom Appel filing to become his replacement.
Voting for this post, along with federal, state and county offices, will be held Tuesday, November 4.
The fifth district covers the City of Mountain Lake and Midway Township.
In the third district, incumbent Tom White will face challenger Donna Gravley, while in the first district, James Schmidt is running unopposed.
