MLA Wolverine Girls, Boys track-and-field teams both conference champs
Following the Thursday, May 15 Red Rock Conference Track & Field Meet – both the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys and girls teams were crowned as conference champions- at the meet held in Slayton. Of the 18 events at the meet, the girls won five, racking up a total of 155 points, holding off Southwest Christian, which compiled 141 team points.
The Wolverine boys won eight events — including all four relays — scoring 176.5 points, topping second-place host Murray County Central’s 152.5.
MLA girls first by Stoesz, Soutthivong, Hildebrandt, Falk, 4 x 200 relay
Winning first-place in their events were:
* Hannah Stoesz, shot put, 33-1 feet.
* Brianna Soutthivong, 400-meter dash, 1:03.13.
* Lydia Hildebrandt, 200-meter dash, 28.05.
* Mikayla Falk, pole valut, 7-0 feet.
* 4 x 200 relay (Soutthivong, Hildebrandt, Falk and Emily Jahnke), 1:53.78.
Second-place finishers:
* Whitney Klassen, 800-meter run, 2:30.01.
* Carly Paulson, high hurdles, 17.85.
* Brook Sunderman, 300 low hurdles, 54.51.
* 4 x 400 relay (Falk, Klassen, Soutthivong and Hildebrandt), 4:25.49.

Gonzales wins two titles, Klassen and Harder each claim one, boys take all four relay races
Winning first-place in their events were:
* Jose Gonzales, long jump, 19-5.5 feet and 800-meter run, 2:10.14.
* Cody Klassen, 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
* Slade Harder, 3,200-meter run, 10:41.63.
* 4 x 100 relay (Jose Gonzales, Reynaldo Capetillo, Ian Glassic and Zach Dicken), 47.13.
* 4 x 200 relay (Jared Saunders, Dickens, Demar Rodney and Glassic), 1:37.94.
* 4 x 400 relay (Saunders, Klassen, Caleb Bargen and Gonzales), 3:40.59.
* 4 x 800 relay (Tommy Kraemer, Jared Willaby, Ryan McCue and Slade Harder), 9:18.49.
Second-place finishers:
* Klassen, 110-meter high hurdles, 6.44.
