Large cadre of boys and girls advance individually, as well as relay teams
Both the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) girls and boys teams finished second in the Sub-Section 9A track-and-field meet held last Thursday, May 22, on the Windom Area Public High School track. Jackson County Central was the top team in both girls and boys. In the girls team competition, JCC won the title with 182 points, with MLA collecting 170.5. Only three points separated the winning JCC boys (189) from the MLA boys (186).
Teams do not advance, however, individual berths to compete in this Thursday’s (May 29) Section 3A Meet, to be held at the Redwood Valley Public High School track in Redwood Falls, were on the line. The top three finishers in each individual event and relay automatically move on to the section. The remaining four sections spots are determined on an “at large” basis using the four best non-qualifying times from the section’s four sub-section meets combined.
