Additional Cobra Youth Wrestlers place in State, Invite
Sixth-grader Brett Willaby, placed first in grades 5-6, 76-80 pound weight class at this past weekend’s State National Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) Tournament, held in Rochester, Minnesota.
Additional Windom/Mountain Lake Cobra Youth Wrestlers, Preston Xayachak (second-grade) wrestling at 45 pounds and under, grades 1-2 and Alex Borsgard (seventh-grade), competing at 106-110 pounds, grades 7-8, placed second in their respective weight groups.
Wrestlers also participating in the state tourney were Ethan Schleicher, Tucker Renquist, Micah Holmberg, Kaden Haberman and Marcus Boyd.
More Cobra Youth, wrestling in the Invitational, placed in the top five. First-grader Kole Haberman in grades 1-2, 58-61 weight class; Kade Sammons, a fifth-grader, wrestling at 71-75 pounds, grades 5-6 and Zach Spinks grades 7-8, 91-95, finished runners-up. Fourth-grader Caden Swoboda in grades 3-4, 65-68 pounds and Seth Swan, grades 7-8, 161-235, both finished in third. Fifth-place finishers were Damien Pohlman and Jesse Jepsen.
Those participating on the 7-8th grade team were Brett Willaby, Nick Curry, Zach Spinks, Hunter Ekstrom, Jesse Jepson, Alex Borsgard, Jeff Wright, Marcus Boyd and Seth Swan.
