MLC Speech Team at JWP Meet

Stoesz earns awards in both categories entered; Smith, Lohrenz and Raabe ribbon

MOUNTAIN LAKE CHRISTIAN'S (MLC) varsity speech team competed at a meet at Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton Public High School in Janesville on Saturday, March 15. Over 20 schools participated and the competition was, once again, stiff. MLC ranked eighth out of all teams with a score of 20 points. Individual results had junior Elijah Stoesz of Mountain Lake - double-entered - finished third in Informative Speaking and fifth in Original Oratory. Another junior, Caitlyn Smith of St. James, was fourth in Great Speeches  and a pair of  Mountain Lake sophomores, Melissa Lohrenz - sixth in Poetry - and Josh Raabe - seventh in Humorous Interpretation, also had a strong performance. James Hamm, a St. James sophomore, competed in both Humorous and Creative Expression. Caitlyn Smith also competed in Prose. The team will competed this Saturday, March 22, at New Ulm before heading into Sub-Section competition at Fairmont Public High School on Monday, March 24. All team members will participate in Sub-Section.
