Elijah Stoesz third in Informative, Josh Raabe ties for seventh in Humorous

Today we had the opportunity to go to a speech meet at Mankato Loyola, with around 400 competitors. Our Competitors for today: Elijah Stoesz - Informative Josh Raabe - Humorous James Hamm - Humorous and Creative Expression Melissa Lohrenz - Poetry There was tough competition and everyone did a wonderful job. Elijah Stoesz received 3rd Place in Informative Josh Raabe tied with four others for 7th Place. Our next speech meet is next Saturday at Pipestone.
FOUR MEMBERS OF the Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Speech Team competed at the 20-school Mankato Loyola Speech meet on Saturday, February 8. Elijah Stoesz, pictured above right, finished third in the category of Informative Speaking, while Josh Raabe, at left, tied with four others for seventh in Humorous Interpretation. Also participating were Melissa Lohrenz in Poetry and James Hamm, double-entered in Humorous and Creative Expression. There were approximately 400 competitors competing in the speech meet. Speech Team Coach is Kim Friesen. The team’s next meet is Saturday, February 15, at Pipestone. Danica Dick and Katelyn Fast will be competing in a Junior High Speech Meet in Marshall on Tuesday, February 18. On Sunday, February 23, the MLC Speech Team will celebrate their efforts with a “Speech is a Sweet Treat” afternoon fund-raising event, running from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the school’s new music rooms. Admission is $10, payable at the door. In addition to hearing the students’ speech, those attending will be able to enjoy a popcorn and candy buffet.
