Jumping right off the pages

As finale to ‘I Love To Read Month,’ MLES students, staff dress as favorite book characters

All throughout the month of February, the students and staff at Mountain Lake Public Elementary School (MLES) have been celebrating the “I Love  To Read Month” with a variety of activities – Mystery Readers,  Teacher Reading Swap, Guess the Reader bulletin board, “Wear A Shirt From Somewhere You Have Traveled Day,” “PJ Day,” “Hat Day” and “Class Color Day” – as well as Rabbit’s Reading Burrow in the elementary library.

As a finale on Friday, February 28, favorite book characters jumped right off the pages and into the classrooms, hallways and cafeteria at MLES. The day was dedicated as “Dress As Favorite Book Character Day” in order to allow students and staff to celebrate and bring to life the special characters and stories they have enjoyed reading about.

The  activities of the month were coordinated by Darcy Snyder, Kristine Friesen, Jenn Fast, Amy Hartzler, Joan Raabe, Martha Standerwick, Mary Brown, Tammy Wolle and Crystal Fast.

Below are a few photographs of some those favorite book characters brought to life.
