Top spellers, first- and second-runners-up for each grade level were honored at the annual contest
Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Elementary held its annual Spelling Bee on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014, in the Cornerstone Bible Church in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Champions were crowned in grades one-through-six, along with a first-runner-up and second runner-up for each level. Oak (grades 3 and 4) teacher Nordis Olson was the spelling master/pronouncer, with Sheryl Fast, teacher for Sycamore (kindergarten), as well as Oak, the spelling judge. The timer was Karin Stoesz, teacher for Cedar classes (grades 5 and 6) and Rachel Knutson, Acacia teacher (grades 1 and 2), cued the rounds. Grade-level appropriate words were used for the students in each round.
The champion spellers from the six grades were:
