A Celebration of Life service for Lorraine M. Sandberg, 88, of rural Butterfield, Minnesota and Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be at 11 a.m. this Friday, January 31, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin, Minnesota with Pastors Carla Reierson, Steven Bruer and Dennis Siebert officiating. Burial will be in Kansas Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Butterfield.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Messages of sympathy can be sent online to the family at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.
Lorraine Sandberg passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society- “The Village” – in Mountain Lake.
Lorraine Marion Johnson was born on September 19, 1925 to Albert O. and Linnea (Samuelson) Johnson on the family farm in Odin Township, rural Odin. She was baptized and later confirmed on October 12, 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin. Lorraine attended rural county school in District #12 in Odin Township and then moved to a farm south Mountain Lake and attended District, #12 up to the eighth-grade.
On January 8, 1944 she married Conrad V. Sandberg at Kansas Lake. After their marriage, they lived on a farm in Odin Township and farmed the land. From 1967 to 1979, she was employed at Tony Down’s Food Company in Madelia, Minnesota. Lorraine was a former member of the Kansas Lake Lutheran Church and belonged to its Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Card Club of Odin for 50 years. Lorraine enjoyed dancing, baking, cooking, crocheting, embroidering, cutting hair and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter Glenda Olfert and her husband Don of rural Mountain Lake; five grandchildren, Kimberly Beier of Mason City, Iowa, Jason and his wife Kristy Sandberg of Mason City, Jennifer and her husband James Anacker of rural Butterfield, Eric and his wife Aapril Olfert of rural Mountain Lake and Kevin Olfert of Mountain Lake; 11 great-grandchildren, Troy, Codi Jo and Joey Beier, Aaron, Kyle, Christopher and Samantha Sandberg, Bileigh, Brice, Brie and Bella Anacker; sister Darlene Kunkel of Mountain Lake, brother Leland and his wife Barb Johnson of Mountain Lake, sister Ardella and her husband David Nelson of Walker, Minnesota, brother Lester and his wife Judy Johnson of Worthington, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Kathy Johnson of Mountain Lake and Clara Johnson of St. James, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Conrad Sandberg on January 15, 1998; three sons, Jerry, Gordon and Darwin Sandberg; grandson Troy Sandberg; two brothers, Verne Johnson and George Johnson and other relatives.
