A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Charles J. Quinn, 80, of Sherburn, Minnesota will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, with the principal celebrant Bishop John Quinn, and Father James Seitz and Father Paul Nelson, priests of the Winona Diocese, as concelebrants,
Interment will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn.
Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Quinn family will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at St.Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn and one hour prior to the Mass in the Parish Center at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Saturday. There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church.

Father Charles Quinn passed away on Monday evening, November 10, 2014 at Sanford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, Minnesota.
Charles Joseph Quinn was born on November 4, 1934 in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of William Edward and Lily Ann (Hale) Quinn. At the age of two, his family moved to Madelia, Minnesota, where he attended Mather Dolorosa school and graduated from Madelia Public High School in 1952. He worked at his uncle’s grocery store for one year and then attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, graduating in 1957.
He continued his seminary training at the St. Paul Seminary, being ordained a priest on May 27, 1961. He served parishes as an associate pastor in Caledonia, Lewiston, Austin, Rochester and Worthington, all of Minnesota. He was pastor in the Minnesota towns of Iona, Avoca, Caledonia, Mabel, Eyota, Austin, Heron Lake, Brewster and Lakefield, Windom, Jeffers, Jackson and and Sherburn.
He became a Senior Priest in 2004, and has lived in Sherburn since. As a Senior Priest, Father Quinn continued to serve the diocese by filling in for other priests. During his 53 years of ministry, Father served as Area Director, on the Presbyteral Council, Consultors and Director of Faith Formation. He loved boating on the Fairmont, Minnesota lakes, Okoboji, attending sporting events and celebrating events in people’s lives.
Those who shared in his life include his sister, Patricia Borowski of Fairmont, Minnesota; his brother, Tom and wife Jane Quinn of Mankato, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Colleen Quinn of Augusta, Georgia and Kathy Dea of Denver, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews and the many parishioners who made him part of their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mike Quinn and John Quinn; brother-in-law, Bob Borowski; nephew, Bill Quinn; one great-nephew, David Borowski and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Mercy Sacred Heart Mercy Health Center, all in Jackson, or the St. John Vianney Catholic School (of Fairmont) Endowment Fund.
